There is an appealing story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is prohibited. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent destination, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are ways around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling hall, contains 150 slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel compound that contains many amenities on top of the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
